Yeah. After sitting down with it for a while uninterrupted I got it figured out. Seems as though my slide does travel all the way back. I need to work with it a little more and shoot it some more before I pass judgement on it. I measured the compression crudely using my bathroom scale and found about a pound and a half heavier on the EGW flat wire spring as compared to the original Kimber spring. For what that's worth to anyone.

Here is a pic with the slide all the way back as far as it will go.

Thanks. There's the proof that EGW is too long so causing slide lock with rounds in magazines. Excuse my line edit

Can see that the checkering is all I front of the slide stop.

Here is EGW no spring just the rod and bushing with full pull back. See if you use the reference lines, about 1mm off.

I sent both assembly's back Priority mail this morning. They better refund full cost of both. Even sent them the extra springs I tried.
I did a next day delivery for Kimber assembly from MidwayUSA so I should be back to reliability and can carry again.

That's a shame. Was looking for some aftermarket spring assemblies that would work.

I'd be interested in hearing any response you may get from them. This could be the reason Wilson Combat only makes flat wire springs for 4" and 5" guns.

Wilson does have a flatwire on sentinal but think that's a 3.5" barrel. Only reason I seen this, is i bought the 22# sentinal flatwire spring to try.

Well no clear answer, think they blamed my gun.
""Hi Ronald,

The guide rods came back in today.

Looks like you had one in a gun and the other not.

Kimber rods have a sheet metal head. This will be different than our all in
one piece guide rod with head.
Our head is thicker so the slide will not be able to come to the rear as
much as the stock frail break prone system
That comes with the gun. This explaines the marks you have on the photos for
the slide stop location.

Once the slide stop clears the notch it is good. The slide in effect will
push the slide stop down if it were to bounce up in
The window.

We processed a refund today, it may take a day or three for your credit card
company to process.

Thank you
geo""

Found a seller that is selling the old style guide rod. Wonder if it's even worth the stress. Would be nice to have if it worked
