I wanted to try out the new Federal 99gr HST ammo I ordered a while back, good as an excuse as any to go to the range I suppose
This stuff is on the pricey side at about $28.00 for a box of 50. I brought 24 rounds of it, 50 Fiocchi 95gr FMJ and my two 6 round magazines. I'm happy to say both the ammos ran perfectly. The HST felt noticeably hotter than standard .380 ammo. I guess that's a good idea for .380 carry ammo. One thing that struck me was the profile of the .380 HST bullet. At a glance it looks like FMJ? The other Federal HST I use for carry ammo is 9mm and it resembles XTP. In the attached photo the cartridges are a Hornady 90gr XTP, the Federal 99gr HST and a 9mm Federal 124gr HST.
...the target was at 7 yards, last two rounds of Fiocchi were to the head. One from each magazine
