Flat Point Issues

The other day, I was at the range and tried running new (not reloads) Freedom Munitions 200 gr FP through my TLE. I was using both Wilson Combat and Kimber 7 rd mags. Every round resulted in a FTF unless I only loaded two, on occasion, three rounds in the magazine. Any more and I was right back to jamming. Admittedly, the pistol has less than 250 rounds through it and I will break it it further before trying again. That said, any ideas what might be some causes to investigate?

Thanks!

Did you try different ammo? I had trouble with freedom reman but others have been getting great results.

It feeds Orr Tactical & Winchester white box fine, but both are RN not FP. I normally wouldn't be too worried, but I have 300 rounds of FP to use up.

If worse comes to worse, I have an old S&W Model 457 that will feed almost anything. I'll just make certain the Kimber will feed HP and move on. I use Barnes TAC-XPD 185 gr +P for defensive rounds in the 1911.

Longhorn,

I've got two Kimber Micro's in the household and until they were broken in, neither would cycle truncated bullets. After about 200 rounds, they started cycling the truncated bullets. On a related note, You know the Sig branded 380 ammo? The one with the pictures of round nose bullets on the box? I'm finding that the ammo in the box has truncated bullets. That just ain't right.

I kinda figured I should break it in a few more rounds before doing anything drastic. Thought I'd throw it out there and see what others thoughts are,

I would stick to 230gr FMJ because that's what Kimber recommends. I would shoot 500 rounds before trying any other rounds.

Kimbers firearms are quality custom
pieces. Our firearms are hand fitted to tight

tolerances. For proper Break-in of the firearm
shoot 400-500 rounds of Quality Factory Ball
(230g. FMJ). Ammunition, cleaning and lubricating
the gun every 100-150 rounds.

From page 26 - 27 of the owners manual.

Good point Chuck

I'm no longer shocked when a person that claims to own a Kimber, but openly admits within a KT thread they do not read their owners manual.

Sport/Marshall....I don't post personal gun pictures on KT or any site, for any reason. Never have/never will. Taking IP risk is for those that choose to do so, I don't.

If you have a problem with that, choose a orifice.
End of subject.

I did read the manual and I do plan on further breaking it in. Good grief! I'm sorry I posted the question.

Longhorn nothing wrong with your question. When it comes to new Kimbers we recommend patience. You are doing the right thing by breaking it in further. Tle 's are nice how about posting a Pic or two. Just saw your other post that is a pretty Kimber!
