Blazer Brass vs American Eagle
Looking for opinions by those that have used both for range use. In your opinion, is one of these brands better than the other and if so, can you explain in what way?
I have used some BB 124 FMJ in a M9 Raptor and an Ultra Raptor that were flawless but have not had any AEs to try. The AEs seem to run about four cents per round more expensive than BB and I am wondering if the difference is justified. Thanks for any thoughts.

I have shot both and have seen no difference in the two. Maybe it because.
Blazer Brass loads are very similar to Speer Lawman ammunition which is predominantly used by the law enforcement community for range training. The CCI plant which produces several brands (CCI, Blazer, Blazer Brass, and Speer) is owned by ATK (the same company that owns Federal)
Federal Premium Ammunition is owned by ATK- Alliant Techsystems, Inc. which is based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Operating as a wholly-owned subsidiary of ATK, Federal is also a parent brand of Federal American Eagle which is commonly known as FAE.
Who knows if it's not the same bullet with different packaging.....

Very much appreciate the comments Marshall, good to know. So in essence, the choice could be decided by cost. BB and Lawman seem to be within one cent in cost so no significant difference. Thanks again.

I've used both many times and never any problems with either. If they were both the same price I would probably pick the AE, only because it's usually more expensive and in my head it would be a better deal.

This got me to thinking, other then SD ammo I haven't bought a centerfired handgun round other then FM in years. They are like Amazon for my ammo needs.

When I purchased my first SD/HD dedicated firearm about a year ago, I purchased over 4k rounds of FM and it worked great for me with one exception....a live primer fell out of the primer pocket (remanufactured) while in the magazine. However, the two Kimber's that I have now have experienced multiply failures to seat rounds. On each occasion, the base of the cases were .002-0025 larger than those that seated correctly. No problem whatsoever in my other firearms, just the Kimbers. I have not had the problem in the Kimbers with BB or Rem Golden Saber ammo.

I'm sorry to hear you've had problems with it, maybe I'm just lucky but I've never had a single problem with it.

I do not think you are "just lucky" Chuck, FM is used by a substantial number of folks with many different firearms. It may be that I happen to have two Kimbers with tight chambers that have the same problem with FM 115, 135 and 147 HP and some 124 XTP ammo. Since BB is the same price per round as FM, I might as well use that since it sounds like it and AE are of approximately the same quality. Thanks for the comments.
