Wow, that came as a surprise. I've been buying all my range ammo from them for years now.

Chapter 11 doesn't necessarily mean they are out of business. It's quite possible though, that the company's assets, including trade name, may be sold to another entity.

It would seem that this may be a case of over-extending. Our local ammunition manufacturer has been experiencing strong demand and can barely keep up, however, he dropped his on-line sales as it simply was not earning the required return. FM, which seems to have based most of its business in e-tail, may have been in that situation, but didn't have the brick & mortar sales to maintain the company. Just supposition on my part.

On the other hand, there is this quote from another forum:

"I'm pretty sure freedom munitions was a gun control group anyways. They were trying their beat (sic) to rid the country of firearms one at a time."

Regardless of your view of FM, that's just funny right there!

Still have LAX Ammo....
Maybe FM will be bought out and/or merged with a company like LAX...

Also there are plenty of sites that offer good bulk deals of factory new stuff.

Not a big surprise. I've been waiting on a "notify me" for months. Some items have been "out of stock" for over a year. I've made a few purchases from FM and got good ammo from them... nothing special, just good. I've gotten real tired of slow service and long waits for orders. Plus I've been getting full jacket ammo for FMs price for "plated" bullets...and I can have a case in 20 minutes not two weeks. Yes I have to pay sales tax but no shipping. So no great loss, I'd rather support my local people anyway.

I've had decent luck with LAX. I use them for most of my revolver ammo as I don't have a local source for it.

Perfect. I ordered 1,000 rounds of Norma .223 on Monday. Sent inquiry to them about fulfillment. They bill my credit card upon order. If I do not get a satisfactory response, I'll cancel the order and have my CC company cancel the payment.

Their automated system acknowledged receipt of my inquiry. I got that going for me.
