I'm new to reloading 9mm too and not so new to reloading in general. I just picked up 2,000 brass 9mm cases yesterday and I'm in the middle of tumbling and resizing them. I'm taking a martini break right now actually. I have a Lee Factory Crimp Die on the way cuz I think it will be better than my RCBS taper crimp.

I have a lot of long shot and power pistol so I'm trying to focus on using those but I loaded up some 124 gr gold dots with 7.1 gr of Blue Dot a couple of days ago. Haven't shot them yet. they'll be hot but still below +P level PSI.

I'm pretty excited about Berry's Bullets too. I bought 1,000 147 gr hybrid hollow points and 1,000 230 gr hybrid hollow points. My Kimber Solo loved the 9mm pills and my Ultra Carry really loved those 230 gr pills. I used 4.7 gr of long shot for the 147 gr bullets seated at ~1.047" and I used the usual 5 gr of Bullseye for the 230 gr bullets.

The Hybrid HPs are running about $122/1,000 at Brownells for 147 gr 9mm. maybe not the cheapest bullet you'll find but it seems like a decent HP bullet for the money. There's you tube videos of them in ballistic gel showing decent terminal effects.

Just to add another .02 cents worth. I have been using 125 grain cast lead, with unique powder. Makes a really good range load, pretty inexpensive. I used cast lead also for my 44 mag (I use Herc 2400 that I have had a bunch of for as long as I can remember (thank you Elmer Keith). I like the lead bullets as I have fired a BUNCH through my 44 mag, and while scrubbing lead out can take a little time, I have yet to manage to "shoot out" my old 629. Not sure hot jacketed ammo would be as kind to the barrel, never tried it.

I have also loaded a ton of plain ball jacketed ammo for 9 mil/.38 rounds as well, as they are sometimes cheaper than cast lead. I've not had any feeding problems with lead, but many might prefer ball if they have a rough or odd feed ramp issue.

I even used to load some unique loads for my .357 for my wife, who did NOT like normal full power rounds. 3 grains of unique would make a satisfactory "bang" with pretty much zero recoil in my old model 27. I did once slip in a 14.5 grains of 2400 round. She was NOT amused.

BTW I have found some crazy good deals on both brass and bullets at local gun shows. I've also found some crazy good deals on reloaded ammo although there is always a risk. I doubt anyone could blow up my 27 or 629 no matter what they loaded up, but I would be less likely to fire unknown ammo in my micro, not sure how it would react to really hot +P+ type loads and don't want to find out...

Okay...I also have 2 cents.
Of course there are my favorite powders for 9mm....HP-38 (aka W231) and VV N320. Hard to tell which I like better...probably VV N320, but HP-38 is cheaper and available.
Next are Silhouette, VV 3N37, CFE-Pistol, probably in that order.
Lastly, I picked up 16lbs of Universal for under $10/lb, with the idea of testing loads for all of my pistol shooting .380ACP, 9mm, 40S&W, 45ACP. I’d include 38Spl/.357Mag, but I have yet to load for those.

My two favorite plinking bullets are from Everglades Ammo. 95gr JHP shoots nicely out of every 389ACP I own, as well as my 9s. Just love that round.
And, 115gr FMJ. Both are economical, jacketed, not plated. I’ve loaded a lot of Berry’s in 100gr HBRN and 115gr RN, as well as Sierra 95gr FMJ FP, but for the price, I much prefer the jacketed offerings from Everglades.
