I found some left-over .40 cal. dies, cases and bullets at Cabela's, of all places, and cleaned them out. So now I have supplies for re-loading 4 or 5 calibers to keep me going for a while,

Primers are hard to find around here too. I am down to 4K small pistol and 1k of small rifle. Plenty of powder but out of 9mm bullets.

But I have ammo. Factory stuff is elsewhere.
Should survive for awhile.

Well it looks like things are easing up a bit. Since I last looked at this thread, I've acquired roughly 4000 rounds of .45 acp and 1000 of .45 LC. All at very reasonable prices. Combined from different sources, about $.32 a round. Local gun shop had a pallet of 9mm on the floor yesterday an most other calibers in stock as well. (except .45 acp) I have 2 other orders, for 1000, due in November 4. I even found some Critical Defense that didn't break the bank!

Picked up some stuff for my Vaquero today. 250 rounds of "cowboy action" loads. 200gr 750fps, 100 rounds of "deer stopper" 260gr 1200fps and 50 rounds of hardcast +P 335gr 1300fsp monsters! Looking forward to range day to see what they can do!

Picked up 100 rounds of 230gr 875fps jacketed hollow points for the 1911's. I know Critical duty will fire in them so I'm hoping these will also. These are 1/3 the price of the Hornadys.

Well, the 335gr .45LC were unimpressive. I have no doubt they'd be a good hog hunting round, but I was expecting a bit more of a kick from them. Oh well.

More of an Update:

Local gun shop/range are FULL of ammo and good prices around me. .45 acp, 230gr Sig Sauer FMJ for example is $23.99 a box of 50. They seem to have nearly every calibre on the shelf as well. They do limit the amount you can buy at one time to 3 boxes. Unless you're a member then you can buy a case of 500 9mm for $329. They suddenly have plenty of firearms as well.

Me thinks they were the ones hoarding stuff!!

Back to my 335gr 45LC rounds. I guess the first two I shot were low on power. I loaded the Ruger up with 6 the other day at the range. Boy do I regret that! #5 and #6 were PAINFUL to fire! They all had SIGNIFICANT recoil!!! Its been a week and my hand is just now starting to feel normal again. Big bruise on my middle finger from hitting the trigger guard. I only thought I had a strong grip on it!

Saving the rest for a time when they are needed.

Haha! Back when I was younger with excess testosterone surging through my veins, I'd load .45 Long Colt to absurd levels. Eventually I decided I like it better with more mundane loads.
