185 grain vs. 230 grain ammo for .45 acp

What are thoughts on 185 grain vs. 230 grain ammo for a .45 & particularly for a Kimber Master Carry Ultra?

Thanks,
Erock

They are one in the same for me. I believe in practicing with the ammo I am carrying just like the gun.

Breaking it in Kimber recommends to use 230 grain....After that I know there are members that carry the 185 grain...

My UC Raptor has 230 gr HP that I use for edc and shoots them flawlessly...

I've run both through my Eclipse Pro with no issues. Don't know about the Ultra I don't have one.

My Kimber is the UC2. I practice with Freedom Munitions 230 grain Remans. I carry Hornady Critical Defense and Federal Guard Dogs. Every few months I burn off the loads that have been carried.

I do not remember my last stoppage.

My range ammo is 230 grain ball and carry ammo is 185 grain HP. Naturally when they were broken in we made sure they would handle the 185 HP
at the range. Carried in all my 45 ACP's and one is a Kimber
Ultra Carry Raptor.

185gr Lead SWC is what I use to reload with. Good practice ammo, i.e. cheap. Or it use to be?

I have some 185gr Hornady Critical Defense that shoots OK, but I prefer 230 gr. No particular reason just what I like.

I use 230 gr. loads exclusively be it FMJ range ammo or JHP carry ammo. My point of aim doesn't change and I live in a highly populated area, I don't need lighter loads traveling at higher velocities penetrating targets and going on to do additional damage.
