380 for self defense - what ammo?

As most of you know, my wife carries a Sig P238, which is a .380. She loads FM 100 grain RNFP for her carry ammo. We've been considering stepping her up to a 9mm, but she isn't ready to pull the trigger on that just yet. So I thought I'd evaluate some .380 ammo on the interweb to see what might work best. I found this video to be very interesting. You thoughts?

I would have liked to see him use the .380 Critical Defense compared to the ball and Gold Dot, but I imagine it's pretty similar to the Gold Dot. I actually get a little confused by these results. I know they don't meet the FBI standard but standards aside, it seems to me the penetration of the Gold Dots is about what you'd want and having the ball ammo pass all the way through would be a bad thing?

Of course ballistic gel is different than actual clothing and flesh but if it's meant as a test of real-world performance then I'm guessing the results should be comparable?

"Ammo Quest final wrap-up"

... Another video to check would be the one I mentioned in the title.
I think anything that her gun works well with would be better than something prone to problems. In my Micro I haven't had good luck with the PMC Bronze? From what I've read or seen the XTP bullet is a good choice. I haven't had any problems with the Fiocchi Extrema XTP or the Hornady Custom XTP running in mine. There are a few +P offerings out there that I haven't tried but may as well be good alternatives if you want a little more "pop" :-)

Anything with the XTP Hornady bullet is a excellent choice. My wife and I run Hornady Custom XTPs in our LCP and Micro Carry.

I also have a Sig P238 and when I carry it as a BUG, I use Buffalo Bore 90 gr. JHP +P in it. Here is a video using a Sig P238 and the Buffalo Bore .380+P 90 gr. JHP load I carry.

Think I'll try those Precision Ones in the +p. Not cheap but half the cost of the CD.

Those Lehigh XPs look interesting?

...the only question would be "does she like them"? My Micro has been a little picky with what she'll eat :-) She does like XTPs, the XP looks similar in general shape and is the same weight??? May be worth a try.
As I'm on my 3rd recoil spring in less than 1000 rounds I'm a little hesitant to try the +P with the stock spring. Seems as though the +P would be ideal. Although the guy at Wolff would not give an opinion on using their springs in a Kimber (hasn't been tested) he did clarify that Mustang owners who shoot +P often generally use the 12# rather than the 11#. I ordered the Wolff 12# and hope to try it out on Monday with standard pressure ammo. First things first :-)
