New Kimber 9mm striker fired pistol

Kimber have announced the launch of a brand new line of striker-fired subcompact carry pistols. Perhaps best known for their revolvers and 1911s, Kimberís new EVO SP is part of a major expansion of the companyís product line. You can check out Adamís coverage of Kimberís other new products here.

Huh. If Kimber has to expand their product line out from the platform that put them on the map, this makes much more sense to me than revolvers, but wtf do I know? I haven't been anxiously waiting for this news, but I do look forward to hearing how they shoot and how reliably they run. A striker pistol in that price range had better work like a Swiss watch, it isn't exactly a small market to jump in and try to compete.

As you guys know, I intend to sell off my UC2 (and all the toys) and buy a smaller pistol. In the interim I intend to carry the P238.

The issue I have is that Kimber products might require an extended break-in period. Those Glocks do not.

I'd like a better and smaller pistol. If this Kimber is a "better Glock" then I'm on board. If reports say that it takes 500 rounds to break it in, then I'll stick with the P238 as it has never had a stoppage issue.

I am curious as to the weight difference of the frame compared to polymer frames. I would say that they are using the same aluminum frame as the other micros and the muzzle flip will not be much different than a polymer. As for the price, they are catering to a market that could care less that they could buy 2 if not 3 quality proven 9mm polymers (m&p 9 shields). Good luck to them.

Nice trigger and very accurate. Don't even know it's there. Has enough punch to knock down 6" steel plates at 12 yards free standing. 250 rounds and bo hiccups. They learned their lesson from the Solo debacle
