Actually... they do very much still exist and waaayyyy under-rated by good Kimber 1911 lovers that never shot one...
I believe it was introduced a bit ahead of its time. The Kimber 1911 Polymer, Double Stacked with 14 rounds of good ol' .45 ACP (as well as the similar Kimber BP Ten II) are fantastic high-quality shooters. It's accuracy will surprise you! It eats anything you feed it and willing to work ovetime without protest. If your hand size is medium or larger you'll appreciate great feel and purchase of the double stack grip. An Ultra reliable 1911 with all standard 1911 parts in the Slide and most in the frame.
The Polymer's frame was made for Kimber by BUL Armory of Israel, essentially the same pistol as the BUL M-5. If you are a competitive shooter then you know BUL Armory... Check out their new SAS II competition model... that's what dreams are made of!
Also... Have you noticed that double-stack 1911 are slowly coming back??

If one can get over his/her emotional aversion to all things polymer and can get a hold of one, you might actually enjoy shooting this double-stacked Kimber 1911. You don't have to admit it or tell anyone, just get one - I did!

Got any pics? Would be cool to see.
Ask and you shall receive, sorry I don't check on here often enough and didn't realize you replied. Enjoy the eye candy. 😉

Nice, thanks! I woulda never guessed something like that even existed. Looks like it takes a special mag? Never mind reading back now I see it's a double stack?

Lol, yep. Double stack 10 rd mag in the Ultra. It kicks like a mule, but worth it to have around.
