Thanks, guys.

I carry this Kimber in a black leather pancake holster that really spreads out the relative weight over a larger section of your right kidney. Within 30 minutes I'm patting myself to make sure the pistol is still with me.

Considering my job and my various "bi-pedal enhancement hobbies," I carry every day. And to be honest, I wondered if a "cut down 1911" would still be a heavy-weight.

It is not.

I also carry a smaller version of a 1911, a SIG P238 in .380 ACP. In the summer we all wear thinner, lighter shirts. That little pistol gives you the same 'manual of arms' as its bigger brother. You just brush off the safety like a full-size 1911 Colt.

None of my CCW pistols has a full-size grip. The Kimber in the picture has a grip for "compact magazines."

My P238 is really tiny. But then, I remember the bad old days when I carried a full-size, stainless 1911 Colt. These smaller automatics might give up a little stability by only offering a three-finger grip, but they are lighter to carry and easier to conceal.

Nice-I can't remember if I have ever glimpsed a Kimber Ultra Carry all black with stainless controls-was it perhaps enhanced by the previous owner or did it leave the factory in that configuration?
