Recoil springs, Ultra CDP II

You've got some very informative videos here in the gunsmiths section. Thanks for taking the trouble of posting them.

I'm looking for information on how to change out the recoil springs in my Ultra CDP II without buying the whole kit and kaboodle from Kimber. Can just the inner and outer springs be changed out by the user without special tools?

Good question, I also have an Ultra CDP and have looked at it a couple of times anticipating changing them out. Kimber recommends the outer spring be replaced at 1800 rounds and the inner one at 5000. I can see where it could be difficult the first time but I can't see where any special tools would be required.

Yup. The outer spring is easy using the L tool to remove the assembly then removing it to access the large spring. The inner spring I have not tried.

Jeff, he was asking about replacing the 2 recoil springs on the guide rod. In neither of the 2 videos you posted did they break down the guide rod assembly.

Maybe your expertise can explain it better...
I have no expertise, I've never done it before and I'm as interested in learning how to remove the inner and outer springs from the guide rod assembly as he is. I'd rather spend $9.00 for the 2 springs then $47.95 for the entire assembly.
