Ball cuts on Warrior slide

Started doing some work on my old duty gun since it needs refinished anyways. Just phone pics so maybe not great. I just used 44/40 cold blue and oiled it for now.

I like seeing what other folks are carving on their metal. Is this for aesthetics, or is it more functional?

I am doing a stainless old model Team Match which will be easier to see. But it has one more serration. I want the ball cut to end at the back of that so I will need to cut the frame dust cover back about .015 to line up.

Comparison shot of traditional scallop versus ball cut. A little sanding and head blasting to do.
