What do I use to clean my new Kimber.

I just bought a new Kimber Custom II Two Tone and was wondering what I can use to clean it without harming the black finish on the slide. I was told some cleaners will oxidize the finish. I use hopes #9 on all my other guns will this be fine to use.

Hoppes #9 is a great cleaner. That is what I use on my three Kimbers. Then wipe it dry, apply a very light coat of oil with a cloth, lube on the spots recommended in your owners manual and voila, you're done. Now she's ready to shoot and make you smile.

BTW, welcome to KT. Congrats on the new Custom II.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois snake00eyes75 and congratulations on the new Kimber Custom II. I use Hoppes #9 on all my Kimbers and have never had a problem with it bothering the finish.

Welcome to the site from Tennessee! Been using Hoppes for more years than I care to remember. I also use Breakfree as a cleaner/lube.

Ditto on the Hoppes#9 and I was using Gun Scrubber spray but found out that's what was dulling my KimPro finish on my PC2's..
I have had some luck with Ballistol gun cleaner also...

I use Hoppe's #9 on all my guns - stainless, blued, Kimpro, nitron. Have never had an issue.

I also use Frog Lube on my carry guns.

Snake00eyes75,

Welcome from Northern Illinois. As many others have said, Hoppes #9 will be just fine.

Well it's unanimous, Hoppes #9 works fine. Welcome from Ohio, home of the national champion The Ohio State Buckeyes!

Objectively, I'd like to offer into the discussion... Ballistol as an alternative to Hoppe's #9.

Been around for decades and IMHO the best stuff on the planet for every gun in your safe!
