Kimber MIM parts replacement

Hello I'm new to the kimber forum and I just purchased a TLE custom 2 10 mm and wanting to replace all of the internals to get rid of the MIM parts. disconnector, hammer strut, hammer, sear, extractor , ejector, plunger tube ,firing pin ,ect all tool steal from Ed brown The problem I'm having is the series 70 or 80 with Kimber being what it is. I'm confused on whether or not I can use those parts or if they're compatible. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated

Hmm ... I guess I don't really understand the bias against MIM technology use in handguns. I had experience with it in the early 1980s, but not in very much depth. I did some research, and here is what I found:

"The end-product MIM metal has comparable mechanical and physical properties with parts made using classic metalworking methods, and MIM materials are compatible with the same subsequent metal conditioning treatments such as plating, passivating, annealing, carburizing, nitriding, and precipitation hardening." Metal injection molding - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If all this is really true, why would any manufacturer pay for machining or forging if the same results can be achieved with MIM for a lot less money? If it's not true, what is the evidence?

Wink My 2 Cents Worth!!

My MIM parts are doing just fine!! I have never had an MIM part fail. My Pro Carry II goes bang every time I pull the trigger. NO PROBLEM!!!

However, I did replace the plastic mainspring housing with an Ed Brown Snakeskin fully machined solid steel model! Don't mind MIM at all. Plastic pisses me off!!! Me like metal!!!
