Magazine spewing Rounds

9mm 10-round Promag magazine sitting on the coffee table made a BrDrDrDrDr.... sound and spontaneously spewed all ten rounds all over the living room, emptying itself.

I presume the feed ears are out of tolerance and don't adequately cup the top round?

Fix with needle nose pliers?

No, get out of there right now. A gun is about to jump up and start shooting people on it's own next! I've been hearing about it for years, and waiting, and waiting, and now it's coming true.

As an owner of two Promags I would suggest you apply a liberal amount of trash can then adjust with $20. bills. Wilson, McCormick or Kimber will help you with the paper money adjustments.

Seriously I have 27 mags for my 1911, .45s Wilson's, Colt's, Kimber's, McCormick's and even a few old military originals. The only bad ones I have and never use are Promags .just my two cent opinion from my experience your mileage may very.

Like everyone has already said they are not the best magazines made. If you want to keep it, try comparing the lips on it with a good magazine and adjust accordingly. If you can get it work I'd suggest restricting it to range work only.

I'd send it back to ProMag with a cynical letter attached telling them of the living room "event" and see what happens.

No mfgr wants bad internet press, and your case surely qualifies.

I still say, put it in the gun and see if it comes to life and shoots someone. We could be on the cusp of a historic moment!

Yeah, they are new, I haven't fired them yet.

The failure mode was that the spring pressure would push the nose of the top round up, pivoting about a point 2/3 to 3/4 of the way back of the nose. The back end of the pivoting top round would slide the second round forward, and the process would repeat. Entertaining to watch....

Reshaping the ears with needle nose pliers does appear to have 'fixed' the issue, and they feed OK - but they don't exactly give me a warm and fuzzy feeling....

They do look nice inserted in the handgun, and with that and about three bucks, I can buy a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Does anyone know of any other 10 round magazines that will fit a Micro 9 and/or a P938?

JBear, kind of reminds me of the Clint Walker movie 'Killdozer' that was based on that old Theodore Sturgeon novella.
