Mainspring Replacement for Super Carry Pro HD

My Super Carry has about 6500 rounds through it, so is overdue for a mainspring replacement.

Has anyone else on here done this? What brand of mainspring did you use? Any problems or pitfalls I should be aware of?

I think several members are using that Flat Wire spring from Wilson I think. I bought one but have not made any change yet.

I have the WC recoil spring installed & really like it -- 6000 rounds & still going strong.
My current need is the mainspring.

Oh my bad, still not awake. I just bought 4 sets of springs for a Colt Woodsman, S&W and Detonics from Wolff springs, all four paks for $36 bucks. I don't know if any are better than the other.

Chickadee, you need a 23lb. spring, they can sometimes be difficult to locate. I'd try giving Kimbers customer service a call, they will sometimes just send you one for free.

Customer Service
Toll-Free: (888) 243-4522
Hours: MF, 9:30 a.m.7 p.m. Eastern

The next best place to try is Wolf Gunsprings, 800-545-0077, they are good people that will hook you up with the right spring.

I carry a Kimber Super Carry Pro also and have a Wilson Combat flat spring and guide rod installed in mine and it works great-I bought mine from the Wilson website for around $50.00 if I remember right-and used the spring weight they recommend.

I ASSUME YOU MEAN RECOIL SPRING NOT MAINSPRING

Also added that I don't believe there is a mainspring change interval.

Chickadee is asking about changing her mainspring not her recoil spring. Trust me she knows the difference between them and yes there is a factory recommended interval for changing all springs.

Page 7 of the owners manual.

SPRING REPLACEMENT CHART
Compact & Pro Models: Recoil Spring: .45 ACP & 40 S&W/22 lbs., .38 Super/18 lbs. CHANGE EVERY 800 rounds. Firing Pin Spring: HD, CHANGE EVERY 5000 rounds. Mainspring: 23 lbs., CHANGE EVERY 5000 rounds.
