Installing an Ambi Safety on a Eclipse II

I'm a new member so please excuse me if this question has been asked before. I have a new Eclipse II 45 ACP pistol that is my first Kimber. I wish to replace the single safety with a Kimber Ambi Safety. I am very familiar with the disassembly/assembly of a 1911A1 to the bare frame. Assuming the Kimber is the same as a Colt 199A1, how difficult is the installation of this Ambi Safety? Is it basically a drop in in unit or will it entail custom fitting? All help will be appreciated guys. That Eclipse II is a sweet pistol!

If you're using a Kimber safety it will probably just drop in, if it's from another manufacture it may require fitting.

Chuck:
thank you for your reply. It is a Kimber Ambi Safety and was hoping it was a drop in part. It's on the way to me now and I will advise when I install it.

High chance it will drop in. At best a few passes of the file on the sear block area will do it. The sear pin gets replaced as the newer kimber model is like the old Kings design.

I have replaced Kimber safeties with other Kimber safeties and had no problem. You may also need the hammer pin for the ambi safety. I'm not sure if it comes with the ambi safety.

It was not a drop in safety as I expected. Decided I didn't need an ambi safety after all and sold it on EBay for 5.00 more than I paid for it. Definitely a gunsmith installation with the fitting necessary for it to operate properly.
