Slide finish wear very quickly

I recently purchased an ultra carry ii for my edc. I have only been carrying it for about a month. After a couple weeks I noticed the finish already started to wear. I expected the finish to wear eventually but not after a couple weeks. Any recommendations? Also I included a pic of the end of the barrel. I looks like they got it a little hot during manufacturing. Anybody else ever see this?

Danny, welcome to the site from Tennessee.

Yes, finish usually lasts longer than 2 weeks. I have a CDP Ultra that's been a EDC since 2014, goes in and out of holster (leather) every time I leave the house. When I'm home it is on the nightstand.
It still looks new, not a mark on it. Seems they have good batches and bad batches.

Danny, the Sharpman is correct; it should last longer than a couple of weeks. But do remember, unlike some other makers, Kimber uses a proprietary coating they call Kim-something and not hot blue as is normal for most gun makers. Why, I'm not sure.

BUT if you really are concerned with the finish coming off and looking like crap, Kimber will be happy to collect $110 and refinish it for you. I just had one done myself, it's in UPS right now on it's way back to the ranch. Turn-around is/was less than two weeks.

Me personally? I wish they'd hot blue like everyone else!

Looks like a carry gun should. The quicker the wear the sooner you can forget about it.

I've been carrying my Ultra Tactical almost everyday for 5 years now and it doesn't have half the wear yours is showing. What kind of holster are you using, quality holsters cost more because they are fitted to protect the gun.
