Stripped Bushing Club

Well,I finally joined the stripped bushing club while changing grips on my Sig 1911.I was changing the stock grips to VZ grips and successfully did one side,I then began unscrewing the other side and got the bottom screw out but when I unscrewd the top screw everything came out.The screw the grip, and the bushing. All still attached to each other.I tried to unscrew the screw from the bushing but I think I stripped the threads inside the bushing. The hole in the frame of the gun looks to be undamaged so I ordered some Ed Brown bushings and screws to replace the damaged items.Hopefully everything goes back together easily as you tube shows.Well,my ------ is finally broke,so I thought I would share my follies.

sorry to hear about your misfortune. Let us know about your gunsmithing when you get it put back together. I recently put a SRT kit in my sig P220 via u-tube video. I am constantly amazed just how much information that is available on the internet.

You can YouTube anything, from how to make possum stew, to how to fly a rocket to the moon.

I did the same with my P-226 Mk25.It took me a lot longer than the guys in the videos, but I finally got it done.I got an P-220 SAS Gen2,luckily it came with the SRT so I didn't have to fool with it.

Short Reset Trigger. After your initial shot the trigger only travels a very short distance before it is ready to be fired again.Very noticable when going from a double action shot to a single action shot.
