Thanks. Do you mean like the front strap? I do have pack of radius gauges. Front strap I cover in color and strop it to the line where it meets the frame flats and look for color left and density to find low spots. I have used the gauge to scrap the front strap but not as effective. By changing grits I can see the shiny spots. Just keep at it like shining shoes and changing grits.
I don’t have a long thick ball end mill. Big bucks. To uniform the front strap with the mill on rotary table. I have done the above method for a long time to get the radius evened out before checkering. A sharp edged parallel bar can indicate high and lows too.
But judging by your handle, you know your way around some metal.
