Full Disassemble and Reassemble

For the first time I took my Custom 2 all the way down.
I cleaned every little nook and cranny although there was very little to clean. Polished every surface that should be polished. It came pretty well done from the factory,
I also, for the time being, removed the firing pin block out of sheer curiosity.
What I ended up with altogether was a cleaner pretravel, a crisper break and a difference in pull weight of only about 1/4 lb.
Overall all it was a rewarding and confidence building Friday afternoon.
I did leave the push rod in place since it appeared to me that it was necessary to keep the sear in place.
What I didn't expect was to hear the push rod give a tiny click (against the slide I think) when the grip safety is depressed. It also occurs to me that it may be the metal loop of the rod hitting the frame ? Bottoming out, so to speak.
When I hear that tiny click, there is no more pretravel and the trigger is ready to break.
Live fire session tomorrow, hopefully.

What!? You mean you removed a safety device from your handgun? If you drop it it might go full auto or something!

I remove the firing pin safety on my 1911's as well.
