Refinished S&W stocks

Bought a used S&W 19 recently. The original bluing is 99% but the grips looked they had been drug behind a pickup. I stripped the old finish and sanded nicks and scratches as much as I felt comfortable without changing the shape of the stocks and then did five coats of a tongue oil finish. May not be perfect but 100% better than a week ago.

Those turned out absolutely beautiful John...Great job...

Looks a bit like the model 13 that Agent Starling {Jody Foster} carried in the movie "The Silence of the Lambs"...

We would need before and after pics to really compare but I agree you did a great job and the grips look real nice. As a matter of fact I have seen a lot of "new" grips that don't look that good.

I was afraid someone would bring that up, just about the time the grips were in the acetone melting the old finish off I said to myself, self, you should have taken before pictures.

Talking Ya Done Good!!!

You did a great job on those S&W grips!!

Just in case anyone wants to know where you get "tongue oil", I have just recently discovered the source:

Just put a bucket underneath to catch it!!!
