Ambi Safety Install on Kimber Tactical Custom II

Disassembled my TC II frame for deep cleaning and inspection. Reassembled most of un but experiencing some trouble with reinstalling the port side of the ambi safety. I can get it back into the frame but I will not seat, or operate its starboard side counterpart. Any tips or tricks out there????

This is probably not the case, but are you sure it's depressing the plunger when it snaps in?

I reread your problem description. The times I've had problems with the left side safety seating is when the sear spring is incorrectly against the sear and the disconnector. Make sure the left most spring is not under the disconnector.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois TCK, did you get the safety installed correctly? If so how about going to our "New Member Introduction" sub forum and introducing yourself to the membership.

Ok, I'm glad I got that together. The problem I'm having is with reinstalling the port side ambi safety. To disassemble I moved it up "part-way" between on and off and wiggled it out. Does it go back into the frame in the same manner?

I've more then one 1911 and only the Kimber is a regular PITA in getting the safety back in. Once I get the sears spring in correctly, it does go in, but it takes some jiggling back and forth, up and down, etc.

Good Luck!

Okay, I did a screen capture and blew up the area of concern.

This may be the problem: The spring is below the left most leg of the sear. The spring is suppose to be above. Try this and I bet the safety will go in place and seat properly.
