Thumbs up Wheeler Co customer service

I wanted to report a pleasant customer service experience with Wheeler products (Battenfeld Technologies).

Wheeler Engineering® Gunsmithing Supplies | Brands |

Last year I purchased an 89 piece Wheeler tool set from Cabela’s when I visited the store in St. Louis. The quality of the tools is ok, I guess, for an amateur like me. They are at the Harbour Freight Chinese quality level, but a decent value. I have use the tools several times, but recently noticed that the bits kept dropping out one of the two handled sockets. After examining the socket I realized the magnet was missing. Duh!

I pick up the phone and called Wheeler’s customer service and immediately reached a nice lady willing to help. I told her the problem. I had my receipt ready and several pics ready to email to fight for a replacement tool. But that was unnecessary. With only a few questions asked she said that they would send me another one.

Boom! A day later I get an overnight FedEx box at my door with a replacement tool! Now that is customer service. Don is happy.

Years ago I bought a much smaller Wheeler Eng. screwdriver set then that one. I found the bits were made of soft metal and if you applied too much force you could actually bend them.

Chuck, I hear you. These aren't Snap-On or other high quality, brand name tools by any means. I don't think I'd use them that much to justify the costs of a pro set. But, time will tell on that thinking.

But, my point was that at least they stood behind their tools and replaced the defective one. That works for this amateur gunsmith ... and I do use the term gunsmith loosely.

Love the good cs stories. I was recently surprised to quickly be provided a free replacement for a mira kitchen scale that died after a year of service, an e-mail, a invoice pdf, and i was done!

Now dont get me going about a vendor that I had to file a paypal claim against to get a refund for an incorrect order.
