Ultra Raptor Guide Rod Issue

I have a rather new Stainless Ultra Raptor II that I just had an issue with and I am unsure of how to remedy this. The guide rod itself after 50 rounds down range came unscrewed and fell out of the slide. I screwed it back in and tightened it up as much as I could and shot an additional 25 rounds and after checking the guide rod I noticed it was loosening. I am very OCD when it comes to cleaning and maintaining my firearms and it is still a rather new gun, I only have 312 rounds through it.

My question is how do I make it so this problem won't happen again. Is it okay to use blue loctite on there so it cannot just come unscrewing out on its own again or is there something else that is recommended?

Thank you.

Loctite is exactly what you need for this application. Since it's already loose, take it apart, clean everything so it is free of oil and dirt, apply a drop of Loctite 263, and reassemble. 263 is high-strength thread locker.

Now if you're just reading this and are curious because you have the same gun, you might want to take preventive action. Try to unscrew the rod by hand. If you can't, there's no sense going further to disassemble it. Apply a drop of Loctite 290 to the threaded joint. 290 is wicking grade, and will seep down through the joint and lock the threads. I've done this exact thing on one of my Sigs, which also has a screw-together guide rod.

If you have one of the "retaining grade" Loctite products, it's ok to use that.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois Cowboy91 and congratulations on the new Stainless Ultra Raptor. RustyIron nailed it, a drop of loctite and you'll be good to go. How about stopping by our "New Member Introduction" sub forum and introducing yourself to the membership.

If your going to change the inner spring out yourself use loctite 243 blue. I have changed the inner out of mine once and a friends. No loosing problems after 500rd shot. Or if you use red you can send it to kimber and they will install new springs for you.
