Project "A" or my 460 Rowland

I'm sure some of you will remember a while back when I said that I wanted to build a .460 Rowland. Well I've been looking for a gun for this project and earlier this week I got a great deal on a NIB Kimber Custom Two-Tone II. The next step was a phone call to Thomas Scriminger for a conversion kit and Underwood Ammo for 100 rounds of ammo.

Kimber Custom Two-Tone II

.460 Rowland Conversion Kit.

Installing the kit was just a matter of removing the stock Kimber parts and reassembling the gun with the Rowland parts.

In this picture you can see the Wilson Combat checkered front strap add on I put on the gun. I think it's a great deal for $9.95

On the left is a .460 230 grain JHP and on the right a .45 230 grain JHP. If you look close you can see the Rowland case is 1/16" longer then the .45 case. The longer case keeps you from accidentally chambering a .460 round in a standard .45 but you can still shoot .45's with the Rowland conversion kit.

I'd like to do something with the sights, I don't know if it's possible to mount a red dot on the Kimber slide. A friend told me Novak makes a mount but I believe Kimber has a proprietary cut. If anyone has a suggestion I'd love to hear it.

I now you got a good deal on the "get rid of it or else" two tone, but I thought you wanted to use a steel frame.

Oh, cool. Just looking at it I thought it was aluminum. Good job!

I'm trying to set something up for Tuesday, I need to get the neighbor to sit with my mom while I'm gone and her schedule is unpredictable. I'll start with some .45's to work the gun before I load any .460's remember this is a new gun never been shot before.

Just looked up the .460 Rowland, watched a few you tube videos and it really looks like a lot of fun to shoot besides being totally bad ass looking. Have fun, would love to see and hear about a range report.
