1911 Pro Crimson Carry II

Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum and will probably have some noobs questions. I bought my first 1911 and my first Kimber about two years ago and I couldn't be happier with it. But in owning it, I have realized that I don't use the laser grips near as much and I was looking into changing the grips to regular double diamond rosewood grips. My question is Kimber's website doesn't necessarily say the length of their grips or what they will fit on. I was wondering if you all might be able to help.

Thanks guys for any info you might have.

Welcome to

I have not changed my grips, but from what I've heard from others, the grips are pretty much interchangeable between other fullsize frames. I believe the Custom and the Pro both have full size frames.

Ok, thanks. That's good to know!

I've been curious about swapping them try out how I like it but I didn't want to order them and have to go through a process of returning until I get the right ones.

Thanks again

For the record, I have the Custom Crimson Carry and I don't use the laser either. But then again, it's not my carry gun. I'd be tempted to leave the laser on a carry gun, even if I'd put night sights on it. YMMV

Well from my experience with it. My laser sight doesn't seem to stay sighted where I put it. I don't know if it's a problem of something I am doing or something wrong with the sights itself.

When I play with the laser at the range, at first I was watching the red dot on the paper, which actually started me chasing it around like a kitten being teased on Youtube. Then I figured out that if I focus on my point of aim/impact and let the laser drift to that spot, it worked much better. Plus the laser is factory set for a target at 50'. If you're shooting closer targets, you can adjust the laser for the shorter distance. It's never going to make someone a tack driver shooter, but it will make it really easy to put rounds in a 4" circle at 30 feet if you have good trigger control. When the SHTF I may be too scared/nervous to think about proper aim/grip control. Red dot in the middle of his chest, squeeze the trigger. End of story.

I will keep that in mind when I take it to the range. But from what I was noticing, I sighted it for around 10-12 yards for center mass but the next time I took it was around the bottom right of the paper at the same distance. Like I said this could be from my own personal error and never using laser sights on a handgun before.
