Ultra Aergis II

Just wanted to update everyone. Finally made my decision as to which Kimber will be my first. Appreciate everyone that chimed-in on my introduction and Q&A threads. Your inputs were a tremendous help as I move ahead with the selection and purchase.

Nice choice, the Ultra Aegis is a sweet little 9mm.

Couldn't agree more. Taking it out to the range real soon. I've got some branded 115gr/FMJ for starters. Any exact suggestions on brand/weight I should also consider for the break-in?

Stop right there run 124's, no lighter and run it wet for the 1st 500 rounds. I have thousands of rounds through mine and carry it everyday. It's a great, reliable, light, thin, pretty 1911

It's just a personal thing with me but I believe in breaking in guns with the heaviest loads I can find for the caliber. In the case of the 9mm I use 147 gn. bullets. The reason being that the heavier bullets build up more energy to fire the bullets and that helps the gun overcome the tightness of the new gun and presents fewer problems breaking it in. The important thing is to give the gun a good cleaning and lube it before making that first range visit.

Aegis is a fine Kimber, I love the Ultra's. I searched for a used Aegis Ultra or CDP Ultra in 9mm but was unable to close a deal on either.
I ended up with a Stainless Ultra Carry which has been a fine pistol.

I agree with Chuck about using the heaviest bullet but I have not always been able to find 147gr 9mm and have had success even using 115gr ammo. Lube well, shoot, enjoy.

Didn't really care cause I was just punching holes in paper, didn't figure it could tell the difference in bullet weight.

Once again everyone that posted above has come through for me.

It's too difficult to contain myself from heading out to the range soon, I mean really soon!

So as a happy medium I'll gather the highest weight from local sources and replenish via on-line ordering.

First thing I did when I got my Kimber home was to field strip, clean (it was clean but I cleaned again) and lubed (wet). I have had good results from Tetra and FP-10.

Yes, Kimber has exacting tolerances. I was admiring the work that went into building my pistol while I was field stripping, cleaning and reassembling.
