STEEL FRAME ULTRA9mm?

I had commented in another thread that an Ultra with a steel frame might be the way to go if +P ammo was going to be considered? I looked at the Kimber site and couldn't find any options? Does anyone know if a 9mm Ultra exists with an all steel frame?

IDK, but I had a 3.5" Rock Island that was all steel and it was VERY heavy, great at the range, tack driver accurate and very easy to shoot....but I never considered carrying it and eventually traded it.

No 9mm steel frame that I am aware of. The Eclipse Ultra and I have a old SIS Ultra with steel frame but both are .45acp.

I am not aware of any 9mm Ultra size Kimbers with a steel frame. As for shooting +P ammo it's approved for use in all Kimber 1911's. When I carry my 9mm Ultra CDP I carry +P rounds.

Kimbers offical stance on +P ammo goes for both alum. and steel guns:

+P ammo manufactured to SAAMI specs is fine to use as a defensive round or for occasional range use only. Our pistols are rated to handle +P ammo. However, we do not recommend a steady diet of them, as they are rough on the pistol and will accelerate the wear on the gun and may shorten the life of the recoil spring.

Thanks guys, I had spoken with someone at Kimber about the flat wire spring for the Micro perhaps being better suited to handle +P stuff several weeks ago. He had commented that the aluminum frame and the hot ammo weren't the best mix anyways? I didn't realize there weren't any steel frame 9s in the line up. I suppose it does defeat the purpose for a carry pistol.

IDK, I love to carry my favorite conceal carry, the Super Carry Ultra HD. It's all steel, and a .45, so the weight is not insignificant. However, a good holster and belt (buckled properly) can easily offset the few ounces between and aluminum frame and steel frame. YMMV
