Steel ammo?

Does anyone use steel ammo? And if so any info on it, I most likely wont use it but my brother has a 45 that he has been running it through and says its been working great. Its significantly cheaper, 16$ for 50 rds. 230 grain fmj, the brand name he shoots is TUL ammo, he gets it at walmart. He is also shooting a Rock island

I got a deal on 10 boxes of Tul Ammo 45acp awhile back and it ran fine through my Kimber. After the boxes were gone I went back to the ammo that I normally use. I don't miss the "puff" of smoke or the black-like soot that comes with a Russian made product. They also are coated with a polymer/lacquer that eventually gunks up the barrel...If your looking for inexpensive factory ammo, try Freedom Munitions. A box of 500 45acp are $168+s&h...Many of the forum members use this ammo in their firearms..

As Jeff said, it's pretty nasty stuff. I won't use it.

No, no, no, no, no.

Do not buy Freedom Munitions. They're out of stock all the time anyway, so ...

yeah, stick with the Russian stuff.

I bought a box of Tul back when .45 was about impossible to find. I fired about 2 mags and gave the rest away. Freedom Munitions is the way to go, their reloads are better then some of the the new stuff you find on the shelves.

You're very welcome. I have bought thousands just since I started ordering last June. Inexpensive and trustworthy..
