Ultra Carry II shooting low

I purchased an Ultra Carry II a couple of weeks ago. Since then I have put around 4-500 round through it, a couple of different types of 230gr FMJ, some 230gr JHP, and some 185 gr.

All of these have shot low at 7 and 15 yards. About 4-5" low from point of aim. I'm not sure if it's specifically caused by having a short barrel or what. My experience with the .45ACP goes back to 1989 when I was issued one in Korea.

If anyone else has had this problem, were you able to fix it? If so, how did you do it? I wasn't sure if there were any aftermarket sights that would be any help and still be a good CCW sight. I can always take a file to the front sight if I had to, but I'd rather not do that with such a nice gun. (Sorry if I made anyone cringe with that comment)

Thanks guys

I have a number of Kimbers, Ultra, Pros and Customs. All of them have shot to point of aim, have you tried shooting off of sandbags to eliminate the human factor? If this is the case don't mess with the gun and void your factory warranty. Give Kimbers customer service a call and discuss the problem with them.

The indoor range that I go to doesn't allow for shooting with sandbags and being seated. The outdoor range that I go to does for 25 yards.

I have a XDS that does better shooting off hand, which will probably stay my carry gun until I can get something figured out with the Kimber.

If your gun has those all black sights you may want to consider night sights. I really like Kimber's tactical wedge night sights.

First have someone else shoot the gun. if it's low for them then it's most likely the gun. If not, as in most things user induced.

Sorry for all the near heart attacks. I said I wouldn't do it unless I had to.

I like a lot of the suggestions. Particularly the night sights and having someone else shoot it as well. I may try to give Kimber a call first thing Thursday morning when they open. The mention on their website that since the release of their 2016 catalog that they've been swamped with calls. Will see what happens.

I was almost thinking of getting a set of the laser grips that they offer on the Crimson Ultra Carry.

But I'm also very fond of the XS Big Dot sights. I'd just hate to give those a try and have the same issue.

Anyone had trouble replacing the front sight themselves? I'm thinking of getting a sight pusher.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
