Matte Black, Kimpro II finish

New to Kimber as most of you all know.

I've noticed that my Ultra Aegis II's slide finish on the leading edge of the rear sights and some toward the front of the slide is showing early signs of wear.

I've had my Kimber for about a month and a half, holster drawn at my gun club's action target range. I've ran 250 rounds total so far. Of which half or so were shot from holster draw. So it did get plenty movement in and out off my Milt Sparks SS II.

Feedback highly appreciated.

I do not know of any finish on any make or model gun that will not show holster wear eventually. That being said I do not know what would be considered excessive wear. I do not carry at this time. There are a lot of our members that carry full time maybe they can be more helpful.

Like Tom said, guns are going to show holster wear but IMO the Kimpro finish sucks..

I've had two Kimbers Cerakoted already because the finish was wearing off of them prematurely...One was a carry gun and the other lived in the safe....

Wear on my EDC is acceptable, it's a working gun, think of it as patina. It would be totally unacceptable on something like my Classic Carry Pro, it's a range/BBQ gun not an EDC.

I'm finding that out really quickly. Is Cerakote the best way to go?

It's a little vane but the two tone finish slide/frame along with the wood grips really sets my Kimber both as an excellent functioning pistol and an eye candy too.

Picture of a two-tone Kimber (similar to my Ultra Aegis II) that has been Cerakoted would be highly appreciated.

This is my PCII 9mm that was all black and I had it Cerakoted with the slide a Graphite Black and the frame Satin Aluminum...

It will be stripped down to the aluminum and then pick any color that you wish...

Since I had two of them done they will stand up against anything that I would clean them with...Durable and after close to 2 years the two tone looks as good as it did the day that I received it back...

fwiw....the guy that bought my NIB Ultra Sapphire said Yonkers sent him a new slide rather than refinish the factory slide.

I like the Graphite Black Cerakote finish you have on your slide. Mine already has the Satin Aluminum frame factory finish.

Who did you send your PCII to for Cerakote refinish?

It was a KT member from Illinois...He no longer does that work...

I'm sure that you can find one in your town or by asking a gunsmith who may do that work or knows someone who does...

Here's a gallery of Cerakote work and colors...
