Royal Range Report

First, the good. My first two shots were almost dead on top of each other and only about 1/2 inch off dead center. After about 70 rounds most of the shots were in a pretty tight group. I got impatient and shot some that were a few inches out, but all in all, the Royal shot like a dream. Accuracy: A.

Second, the bad. After inserting the second magazine and using the slide release to chamber the first round, it failed to go all the way in. I took out the magazine, ejected the round that was halfway in, inserted the magazine, racked the slide and it shot fine. Third magazine, same thing. Forth. Fifth. Same. It was only when using the slide release to chamber a round that it failed to go all the way in.

Third, the good. After about the 6th magazine, it seemed to loosen up a little and I had no more problems. And I shot 100 rounds, or about 12-1/2 magazines, so there were about 7 or 8 magazines in a row that worked perfectly.

So, I'm going to keep feeding her through the break-in period and see how it goes before I freak out and ship her back for therapy. I'm encouraged that it stopped acting pissy and seemed to loosen up a bit.

Stripping and cleaning of course was faster and easier the second time. But it does seem like the fit is extra tight on this gun. The firing pin block for example was hard to get out and hard to get back in. It is much tighter than my Pro Carry. I'll have to switch to my phone to post a couple target pics. My wireless pic transfer to my iPad is on the cold molasses speed setting right now.

Be patient. I'm sure with proper care and feeding it will be fine.

While it's new try slingshotting it instead of using the slide release, it can make all the difference in the world while breaking it in.

Slingshotting...meaning pulling the slide back and letting go?

Hmmm. Doing this direct from my phone. Pics do whatever they want...
Here is about 50 rounds. I got impatient and some strays wandered off. For a while I had all within the second circle. Anyway. I like how she shoots.

Yes Sir, sometimes with a tight gun it really makes all the difference during a break in period. Especially with the owners piece of mind .

Yeah, I think it will loosen up or do whatever guns do when breaking in. Since it stopped goofing off after five mags I think it will come around.

You've got a great gun, it took some patience before you got it now apply that same patience to the breaking in period. Stop and think twice before over thinking a potential problem.
