Is the UCII 9mm frame compatible with the 45ACP?

I only ask this question because of what I found in my new UCII 9mm hard case when I opened it at the FFL. Apparently, someone mistakenly placed a second mag into my UCII hard case. As we all know, Kimber's ship with only one mag from the factory. The extra mag is for the UCII 45ACP and I bought the 9mm model.

As part of the normal inspection process, I inserted both mags into the UCII as well as racked the slide. Upon inserting the second mag, the FFL guy, Ben, asked to see the mags. It was he who noticed that my second mag is for the 45ACP model. Both mags cycled perfectly leading me to ask the question; Does the UCII 9mm frame accept the UCII 45ACP slide assembly?

I spent some time looking around the Kimber website but could not find the answer to my question. Furthermore, I did not see a link to send Kimber an email, only a phone number and their address.

Thanks for your responses in advance.

Yes the 9mm and .45 Ultra Kimbers use the same frame, you won't hurt anything inserting an empty .45 mag in a 9mm gun just don't try shooting it. You can even get .22 1911 magazines that will fit in your gun.

I shouldn't confess this on the forum but I've exchanged the slides from my 9mm Ultra CDP with my .45 Ultra Tactical, inserted the appropriate magaines and shot the guns with no problem.
2sharp2, JC45, Mini Me and 1 others like this.

Is it safe for me to assume that the same compact 22LR conversion kit that fits the UC2 in 45ACP also fit the 9mm UC2?

Yes the conversion kit works on both the 9mm and .45.
