Stainless ultra raptor II or ultra CDP?

I am looking to get a Kimber for concealed carry. I am looking at the two listed models. What are the differences and which would you get? Also if you had the choice would you get 9mm or .45? Thanks for any input.

I'm a little partial to the Raptor because I own one. I don't think you will notice a difference between the two if you shot them side by side. They're both the same platform, the CDP has the Carry melt treatment. Both have night sights, the Raptor has tactical wedge night sights. I think the CDP has slim grips but I'm not positive. The Raptor is about $200 more. I would pick the one that looks best to you and fits your budget. Your not going to make a bad decision with either.
As far as 9 or 45 that's really a personal choice, I have an Ultra in 9mm and it's very nice to shoot. I don't have an Ultra in 45. If you want more firepower and don't mind the extra kick the 45 is the way to go. You can argue 9 or 45 all day long but it's all about personal preference.

They are very similar as they are the same platform, how about both

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois chas1793, there is no wrong choice between the two guns. Internally they are the same, externally it's cosmetic. I have Ultras in both 9mm and .45 and don't find much difference in shooting them but I will admit that I prefer to carry the .45.

How about stopping by our "New Member Introduction" sub forum and introducing yourself to the membership?

I own both models you are asking about. Both of mine are .45. For self defense I am a .45 or biggest caliber pistol I can carry type guy.
CDP Ultra rotates with my RCP Ultra as EDC pistol. If you close your eyes they are pretty much identical. The CDP Ultra was the first Kimber that I purchased, so which ever model you don't buy you can buy next time.

And well IMO the Stainless Raptor Ultra is one of the best looking pistols ever made.

I have to agree with 2sharp2, the Ultra Raptor is a great looking pistol! And anyway, it doesn't matter which one you buy now, because sooner or later you will find yourself owning the other one too! Welcome to the forum and good luck!

I think I am going to try to get the Ultra Raptor as that is what I have been eyeing anyway.

Welcome and show us pictures of your Raptor in 45 when you pick it up. I've said it before, the Raptor reminds me of a fine piece of jewelry.
