Super Carry Ultra HD

I actually got to handle one in person at a local gun shop. This was the first local shop I have seen that has had one. They actually had a large Kimber selection so I could actually compare a few different models.

I was impressed by how it felt but was surprised how much heavier it was than an ultra with an aluminum frame.

The Super Carry Ultra = 25 oz.
The Super Carry Ultra HD = 32 0z.

That's just over a 1/2 pound difference so yes you're going to immediately notice the difference in weight. If you like the weight of the heavier gun then fine, if you're looking at the HD because you're worried about the aluminum frame holding up I wouldn't be concerned unless you intend to shoot in the neighborhood of 50,000 rounds through it.

With the smaller size, I was hopeful that the additional weight would help with recoil.

I find the SCUHD more balanced and fun to shoot than the CCCII. In a proper holster on a proper belt, the extra 7 oz isn't a problem.

It did feel better balanced than the Ultra Carry I handled for comparison purposes.

It stayed at the store. That shop is way overpriced and usually has kimbers above msrp.

I will say I did start to think maybe I should just save up my money and by a Wilson combat x-tac compact instead. I know it is larger than the scuhd but I could probably make it work for my intended purpose.
