Hi guys, first post here. I have a Kimber Custom Target with adjustable rear sight. I'm thinking about mounting a Burris Fastfire sight on it but I don't want to permanently alter the gun if possible. I see there are some 1911 mounts that use the rear sight dovetail but the rear of the slide has been milled flat for the adjustable sight so I'm not sure those mounts will work.

Has anyone mounted a red dot on their Custom Target? And if so, what did you use and how did you mount it? I'm trying to save myself some time and money if possible.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Your best bet would be to call Burris customer service, they should be able to answer any questions you have.

Thanks for the contact info. I was hoping to find someone here who has done this already to see how it worked out. If nobody chimes in I'll have to give them a call and see what they have to say.

I have put mrds on two 1911s that I have. One uses a dovetail mount in what was a Novak cut though it is a 22 lr gun. The other has been completely milled out and a RMR installed on 45 so that it would set lower and cowitness with suppressor height iron sights.

I have seen successful dovetail mounting done with adapter such as Burris and others. I have seen failures with Fastfires on reciprocating slides. Though reports say the Fastfire III models are greatly improved and accepting the recoil better the RMR is much more durable. Though at a price.

I think the battering it would take from the slide would but it to bed in short order.

That would be a question that their customer service could probably answer.
