Pro Carry HD II

So, I have a Pro Carry HD II (38 Super). Great gun, runs perfect, but ammo is a little expensive and sometimes hard to find.

Does anybody know if it is possible to convert back an forth to 9mm by substituting the barrel and magazine (and maybe recoil spring) from the Pro Carry 9mm model?

CharlieW, Short answer is, yes, it should be possible. Of course the devil's in the detail, such as fitting slide/barrel. You may also have ejector and spring weight differences between the two rounds, though they are close.

Also, shop the internet, such as GunBroker for ammo. I have picked up some Geco 38 Super and it if functioning great in all my Super's, including a Pro/HD II. I just buy it 500-1000 rounds at a time.

Barrel and recoil spring are pretty easy to switch out. Extractor and ejector might need to be replaced or tweaked, both are fairly easy to deal with.

9mm might work in a 38 magazine, it might not, that will depend on the magazine and gun. 38 will not work in a 9mm magazine.

One thing to watch out for is to make sure you match up the barrel ramp with what is in the gun. Style of ramp or if it is ramped or not will be important to know when you order.

I put a 38 Super barrel from a Rock Island 1911 into a Citadel 9mm 1911. I just changed the barrel and recoil spring. It will throw brass 10 feet behind me. I put the 9mm barrel in the 38 Super and it worked perfectly as well.

You maybe better off just buying a 9mm Pro Carry two-tone, I've been seeing some great prices on this gun. Between the price of the conversion kit and the gunsmith cost ( if you need a gunsmith) you could come real closed to owning another gun and then shoot your 38 a little less.
