Sounds like they sent you ultra mags. How many rounds do the new ones hold?

I just checked and I was wrong about the original clip...it has no writing on the bottom like I thought. Just says 9mm on side of original clip. Looks like it might have a tiny #9 on bottom

When you compare the original magazine to the 2 new ones are they physically the same size? Are you sure you're fully seating the magazine when you insert it into the gun? Do you hear a metallic click as it locks into place?

FYI a 1911 uses a magazine not a clip. The difference between clips and magazines is the presence of a feed mechanism in a magazine, typically a spring-loaded follower, which a clip lacks.

Mag..clip...sorry, mental error. New ones not locking into place.

UPDATE!!! these new mags are about 1/4" shorter than the original. So that explains the problem. Kimber sent me the wrong magazines.

And there is the problem, they sent you "compact" (8 round) magazines instead of full size (9 round) magazines.

Grab a wilson combat magazine with the plastic followers and see if they work for you? They are definitely good to go with all the full size .45 acp 1911's. They also offer them for the full size and commander/officer sized 1911's in 9mm. Plenty of solid and reliable reviews out there on them. Good luck!
