Visited the range with Mr. Chickadee, my new Super Carry Ultra HD & 150 rounds of .45 ACP yesterday.
I'm disappointed to say the pistol was not flawless.
Started out with 50 rounds of JHP (20 of Hornaday Critical Defense & 30 of Remington UMC) - flawless with both brands.
Then finished off with 100 rounds of Freedom Munitions 230 gr RN Reman. That's when all the problems were.
Most common issue - slide locks open with ammo still in the mag - 4 occurrences today, overall 9 out of 400 rounds.
This issue has been the most common issue with this pistol. Doesn't matter what brand of ammo (except it didn't happen with JHP's ??), doesn't matter which magazine I use. Sometimes the slide stop is fully engaged, other times (most common) the slide stop is just barely engaged - just enough to catch the slide & hold it open.
Also had 3 other failures - all various failures to chamber.
It's looking like this pistol will follow in the footsteps of it's 'big brother' & head back to Kimber. Not planning on calling them until my .380 returns home. Will post updates soon.
My only comfort at this point is it was flawless with JHP rounds - since my .380 is visiting scenic NH I have been using the Super Carry Ultra as my EDC - I know, not ideal - but better than no gun at all....
Targets were all at 7 yards - 1st 2 with the Super Carry, semi-rapid fire: not great, but much better than I am with the Tactical Ultra! Still need to work on my hand/wrist strength to control that recoil!
3rd target shows what I'm capable of with my Sig P226
