Decided to get a 45 and was as thinking about a Beretta PX4, but it just didn't feel right to me. I wasn't really considering a 1911 series but the counter guy showed me a Remington R1 and I knew then I would end up buying a 1911. After heading back to the house to do some research I started pricing a commander sized gun with a rail. I ran across a killer deal on a new-old-stock (internal extractor) Stainless Pro TLE/RL II and pulled the trigger.
I was originally looking at a laser and light combo, but ran across a killer deal (especially after the current $50 rebate) on a set of Crimson Trace Cocobolo grips which made the gun feel even better to me. I struggled a bit on the decision for the light but settled on the SureFire XC-1 due to its size and AAA battery. Next purchases were for a few Tripp Cobra 8-round magazines and a take-down tool from 1911 Tool (figured over the years it would end up being worth the price).
I'm heading to a friend's house in the country this weekend and can hardly wait to fire off a few rounds to make sure it will be reliable. If the glass-like slide is any indication it should be fine.
