The Ultra and The Bunny

While out at the ranch last week shooting ground squirrels, a very brave jackrabbit came cruising through camp at high speed, then stopped 50 yards out to look back (fateful decision).

I had my Compact Rimfire conversion unit mounted on my Ultra CDP, and to my amazement, nailed the bunny on the first shot. This was the first time out with the conversion.

I'm not sure who was more surprised, me or the bunny, but I was smiling, and he was certainly NOT.

The conversion unit was loaded with CCI 40gr HP's and so far has functioned 100%. In town I carry my Ultra IWB in a Milt Sparks VM-2, and in the outback it's nice to carry it with the conversion mounted and use the same holster. Good stuff!

He called it a jackrabbit because that's what it is. Jackrabbits are hares. Hares have large, long ears, long legs, and a larger body than rabbits.

Yes, I do.....really. Uh huh, all the time......

Good thing I had three witnesses too!

We've got cottontail rabbits, and the desert jackrabbit or hare. Bigger, tougher, faster, longer ears and found everywhere in sagebrush country west of the Rockies. They make a great thump when hit with something like a 223 Rem! Twenty million coyotes can't be wrong.

HA! From the title of the thread I had no clue what I was going to find when I opened it. That was a big bunny, makes the three in my front yard look like babies. Nice shooting!
