Kimber 1911 in 9mm

Just how functional is a Kimber in a 9mm configuration?

Thinking about a 2017 Model Kimber CDP Pro in 9mm.

Know may be a silly question but Kimber discontinued the Aegis model.

Wonder why if it was a sound design?

I just looked on the Kimber site and it appears to be discontinued. I really don't know why but I'm sure it has to do with sales numbers.
I don't have a 9mm Pro but I have an Ultra in 9mm and a Springfield RO 5" in 9mm and both are really fun to shoot. Eventually I will have a 4" 9mm.

I don't have a Pro size 9mm Kimber either but I have an Ultra CDP in 9mm and it's as reliable as any of my Ultra .45's.

It seems like Kimber drops a gun or two every year, in addition to the Aegis they also dropped the Tactical line this year. Feature wise I felt the Tactical was the best gun they offered.

I've got a PRO CDPII in 9mm. It's my favorite pistol to shoot and has been essentially failure free. Not too big, not too small and spooky accurate :-)
On the first range trip the front sight came loose but Kimber fixed it and it's never been a problem again? I asked the boss at my LGS about that, I'd never even heard of that happening. He said they see the problem often with every brand, "happens all the time", was the quote. Although the pistol shot perfectly with the original recoil assembly there's a really low recommended change interval for the PRO 9mms. I don't recall exactly but I want to say less than 1500 rounds. I installed a Wilson Combat flat wire rig that's advertised as having a 10x stock lifespan? I guess we'll see on that but it's performed flawlessly so far :-)

I have these in 9mm by Kimber, Sapphire Pro, Sapphire Ultra, Stainless Ultra Carry, all three have been flawless from day one.
Several different models of .45 now available in .9mm so I can see dropping the Aegis line, I didn't care for some of the cosmetic looks of the Aegis.
If you really want the Aegis model I would bet there are still quite a few in inventory from Gunbroker sellers.

I added the CT grips to the Stainless Ultra Carry. Everything was used, have less than 800 bucks in complete package.

EDIT: Quick GB search listed 18 Aegis models of various barrel lengths and of course prices.
FYI: I know the CDP PRO 9mm would be a awesome pistol that you would love, wouldn't mind owning one myself.

I will be the black sheep on this one. I have two Kimbers in 9mm. Stainless Raptor 5" and a Stainless Raptor Pro. Both were brand new and had issue with fail to extract. After a quick extractor adjustment and they have been great ever since and have been an blast to shoot.

I have the Pro Carry 2 in the Two tone. It's been flawless right out of the box with about 800 rounds through it now. The Pro size in an alloy frame in my opinion is the perfect carry size balancing weight and sight radius. It's a sweet shooter and a tack driver.

Target was at 10 yards, one mag is off to the right. Adjusted and second mag took out the bullseye. This is two handed no rest just to show how accurate it is.

I have a 9mm Tactical Pro II (4" barrel) which is basically Carry Pro with some additional goodies (magwell, night sights, checkered front strap). The only thing I've changed (as have many here) was to install a Wilson Combat Flat Wire Recoil Spring Kit. It is reliable, accurate and just a joy to shoot.

My first Kimber was a PCII 9mm and it has been flawless from the beginning. It's approaching 12K rounds and is still one of my favorite to shoot. It started off a factory black and I had it Cerakoted a couple of years ago to a two tone. Now that I'm bored with that color scheme, it's going back to the original color soon....

Well have a bid on a CDP Pro 9mm on Gun Broker.

I'm in no hurry........

I guess my apprehension about a 9mm is I figured the Aegis was just different by cosmetics.
Just wondered if the design was valid.
A 9mm in a full sized 1911?

Have a P226 Legion in 9mm. And its a blast to shoot.
Hoping all that will transfer in a CDP pro.

From response here.
I believe it will.
