Gander Mountain Prices

OK, so I know they have been way too high. But, with the discounts, they now have a couple of Ultra two-tones for around 650-675. This is now cheaper than Bud's!

I'm not 'needing' another gun, but what do you think of the price?

If you check out slickguns / gun.deals using the UPC code of the firearm you're looking for, it lists most all the major (and not so) sellers in one place and you can find some killer deals. You can also check out all the coupon codes sellers place on there as well. For instance, Brownell's had a Stainless Ultra Carry II that sells for $778 at Bud's for $699 and I applied a 10% off with free shipping coupon and got it for $640 (they charge a $10 transfer fee). Not as good a deal as I got on the Stainless Pro TLE/RL II, but still a good bit off retail. So, unless it is something you have to have right then, you can find better deals out there if you're willing to shop around.

It depends on what "closing shop" means.

All current inventory has been bought by a liquidator who is gradually marking stuff down. The gun counter guy I talked to said they were projected to stay open "3 months" to sell out the stock.

But the new owner of the name is planning on reopening 70 stores (at last count) under "Gander World" or something like that and making smarter choices on what firearms to stock.

You do have to wonder about who was buying stock at the old Gander. My local store has about 20 Para USA 1911's in the case. I wondered if one would be worth the current $430 asking price.

It looks like mine in Lafayette is staying open. I hope after the buy out, that the prices are a little more reasonable. Gander has always been a good place to handle stuff before buying online for a 'real' price.

I went by one in North Houston today to check out their prices on an electric smoker I've been thinking of buying. They had it and was marked as 30% off, then I looked at the price and it was exactly 30% higher than Academy's price. Then went over and checked a spinning reel and same thing. The price less discount was equal to the normal price elsewhere.
