Remarkable Range Day
Today I had a range day to remember. I currently shoot at a privately owned indoor range while the "new to the hood" indoor range is under construction. The instructor had a new customer/new shooter there while my husband and I were shooting. As a result, we were able to shoot every gun he was showing the newbie. I had my recently acquired Gold Match II and my 380. I put 50 rounds through each using Lawman for the GMII and Fiocchi for the 380. The GMII is just a dream to shoot and even though I'm not a great shot, hit pretty decent groupings at 8-9 yards. The 380 performed flawlessly but I will change my recoil spring next outing since I've put 1000+ rounds through it with this spring. My new springs arrived last week. I've put a picture of the GMII target below. I used the 380 target for multiple firearms.
Now for the good stuff. I was able to put 10 - 20 rounds through the Glock Viper Red Dot, a Springfield XD, and a Sig P320. While it may insult some people, I hated the Glock and the Sig. The trigger placement for a double action/single action striker fire was so far forward for a girl with very small hands that shooting them was a chore and very uncomfortable for me. The Springfield was slightly better.
Then I switched to a Kimber Ultra Carry 45acp. Holy cow, it kicked like a mule but it's accuracy made me look good. I put 10 - 20 rounds through a Kimber TLE 45acp and loved it but not as much as the Ultra.
Finally, I shot a Les Baer 1911 45acp with a compensator. It was smooth as butter but had black on black sights that I would've changed were it mine.
All in all, a truly fun day at the range and if nothing else I have learned I am truly a Kimber girl!
