Ultra TLE Troubles

I got a new Ultra TLE II in late June and it has had some problems since I got it. Failure to fedd reliably and failure to return to battery. Sometimes, the round would jam at the top of the chamber.

I tried to continue to break-in the gun and things got a little better, but not 100% as a carry gun. 500+ rounds and the gun still throws an error at least every other mag (different mags). I decided not to return it multiple times over the summer and still have problems, so here was my fix.

1. Replace the recoil springs with Wolf XP. This helped the FRTB a lot but not FTF.
2. Polish the feed ramp and chamber opening of the barrel. I suspected there might have been a burr at the edge of the chamber. Anyway this can't hurt.
3. Replaced the extractor with a Wilson Bullet-proof extractor. This brought the gun to 100% after 150 rounds! Before I would have had one failure every other mag.

I think I fixed it. Too bad you (or me) have to tinker with $1000 pistols to make them perform.

Curious which ammo you've been feeding it.

So sorry to hear that! A friend carries a TLE as his duty weapon. It's accurate and reliable and will eat anything he feeds it. Sorry yours didn't fall into that same category. Have you thought about sending it off to Kimber?

It's running 100% now. The problem was probably an extractor issue, so replacing the extractor fixed it. I have the Pro TLE and it's been 100% since I got it.
