Gold Combat Stainless II

I just purchased a Gold Combat Stainless II & saw that present models have a flat top serrated slide & micarta grips. Mine has a round top & a common double diamond checkered wood grips & a 7rd KimProTac Magazine. Everything else seems to be the same as current model. I'm wondering if this is a early model & if so how they compare with the new models. It's in excellent shape & by wear looks not to be shot very much. Serial is K182XXX. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is my first expensive Kimber purchase & want to make sure I didn't get taken! Thanks for looking!

I see it has a bushing barrel & current models have the bushing less barrel. I called Kimber & got a manufacturer date of January 24th, 2006 on my pistol. I checked Gunbroker & see that these earlier models were going for less money on the auction. Was there any big quality/accuracy difference in the two models (Bushing & Non bushing)?

I have the newer version though several years old now. I have have Kimbers and don't see a difference in accuracy. The bull barrel is a bit heavier in the nose.

Finally got it out to shoot & was pleasantly surprised! Shot very well so will have to practice more to see its accuracy potential! Didn't think I would ever have a very accurate 1911 as years ago I bought a new Colt Gold Cup & it shot very bad & always gave me a negative feel for 1911's accuracy. Appreciate the posts! Thinking of maybe some adjustable sights & newer G-10 grips.

I'm with Mike240, I have the newer model with the Bull barrel. It shoots far better than my skills will ever achieve, but it's still fun shooting the heck out of it.

Enjoy

Congratulations on your first Kimber! Without further delay I want welcome you to our forum! The only thing left for you to do is clean lube and shoot and post pictures of dead targets and the gun that did the deed!

There is one more thing you have to start thinking about which Kimber will be your next purchase. They are addicting!
