Royal ll Texas Edition

Just purchased my second Kimber . It's the Texas Edition full size 1911. I'm super excited I was able to find one being that it's a limited edition. 1 of 800. Being from Houston the fact of it being a Texas Edition gun was really nice. What I didn't know is that it was built off of the Royal ll . Can anyone share any info on this gun or the Royal ll model. I paid around 1400.00 for my Raptor ultra carry and was a bit surprised about the 1633.00 price on the Texas edition. I'm extremely happy with my Raptor so it was a easy decision on buying the Texas edition. I was just wondering why it was a couple of hundred dollars more. Is it supposed to be more accurate more accurate?

Welcome from Northeast, Pa Lidia.
Those are some beautiful guns you purchased. I have a Raptor SS 5" and it's probably my favorite gun. I don't know much about the Royal II but other than cosmetics differences all Kimber 1911's are the same platform. The etching is probably one option that added to the cost. Not sure what those grips are made of but that could add to the price.
Good luck with your new Kimber and let us know how your next range visit goes.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois Lidia. The Royal II Texas edition is a beautiful limited production gun, only 800 were made.

How about stopping by our "New Member Introduction" sub forum and introducing yourself to the membership?

Welcome to the forum from Northern Illinois. I suspect the increased price is due to two factors, 1) some incremental features (cosmetics) that due add to the cost, and 2) the fact that it is a special addition. I would say you have done well in your two 1st Kimber choices.

To try and answer your question, the Texan Royall II has a longer sight radius being a 5 inch versus the sight radius of a 3 inch Ultra.
I have a Custom Crimson II , 5 inch and a Super Carry Ultra Plus 3 inch.
I see little difference when shooting on the range at 7 to 15 yards.
However technically the 5 inch should be more accurate ?
Both are fine weapons you have and I couldn't decide which one to choose over the other. Except if I had the Texan, it will get more and more valuable because of limited availability . If you don't shoot it which would be hard to do.

Welcome to the forum! Nice Kimber Choices. I am like the others with my opinion. It is the fact it is a limited edition the engraving or etching also the grips. You did good!
